The route runs north on Route 1 through San Ramón and across Guanacaste to Liberia, then west toward the coast — Playas del Coco, Ocotal, Playa Hermosa or your resort on the Papagayo Peninsula. It is paved highway essentially the whole way.
Being honest: Papagayo is Liberia's backyard, and if you can fly into LIR you should.
